Purpose

Kaupapa

ANZFA seeks to bring the existing, enduring network of folk music activity in New Zealand front and centre — locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Mission

Aotearoa NZ Folk Alliance is a national body to represent folk music and its associated activities across Aotearoa. We are a not-for-profit organisation providing information, resources and networking — including awards, showcases and professional development opportunities for the New Zealand folk music community.

Aotearoa NZ Folk Alliance is an incorporated charitable trust with a volunteer board of trustees.

Our Aim

  • Facilitate networking among folk artists, clubs, societies, venues and festivals,

  • Provide information sharing, fellowship, training and support,

  • Advocate on behalf of the NZ folk community, to represent them in any capacity that affects the operation and future of folk activity, at a national and local level,

  • Promote New Zealand folk activities to overseas and domestic markets,

  • Provide resources to aid the development and improvement of folk activities in Aotearoa, New Zealand,

  • Recognise and celebrate excellence in NZ-produced folk music and its performance through awards and showcases,

  • Conduct all of the above in the spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
