  • Beverley Young

    Trustee, Foundation Member

    From her first public appearance at age three and a half, singing to her father’s guests at a party, Beverley has gone on to grace stages all around the country, taking in halls, folk clubs and festivals, presenting the mainly British traditional folk music that she loves.

    Active for many years in the Devonport Folk Music Club, of which she is a life member, Beverly is known both as a soloist and singer of acapella harmony and Celtic songs as well as Americana and old time American country.

    With three recordings to her credit, all RIANZ Tui Award finalists and one winner, she continues to sing and play wherever there is an invitation.

  • Gerry Paul

    Trustee, Foundation Member

    Gerry is a musician, songwriter, producer and promoter,. He has played internationally with some of the finest musicians in the genre. Gerry is General Manager of the Turner Centre in Kerikeri and previous to this was Festival Director of CubaDupa in Wellington.

  • Chris Penman

    Trustee, Foundation Member

    Chris has been singing folk songs all her life along with her family and her dad, renowned folk singer and collector, Jack.

    As well as recording her own album "Portobello Years" she has provided vocals to many NZ folk recordings.

    Her love of the folk scene and its music has led her to be part of many successful collaborations with some of NZ 's finest musicians and she continues to inspire and create spaces in folk clubs and festivals for upcoming folk singers and players.

  • Bob McNeill

    Trustee, Foundation Member

    Bob McNeill is a Wellington based singer/songwriter, musician and novelist who has released a series of award-winning solo and duo folk albums, more recently playing with renowned Cape Breton fiddler Gillian Boucher, touring New Zealand and Australia. Currently Bob is exploring a new body of work with his trio Criu.

  • Mike Moroney

    Trustee, Foundation Member

    Singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist, Mike has been a key member of the NZ folk scene most of his life, both as a solo artist and with Dunedin-based bands The Pioneer Pog ‘n’ Scroggin Bush Band, The Chaps and currently his long-standing duo with Anna Bowen, Catgut & Steel. Mike is the founder (1993) of the Kiwifolk website and its associated radio station and the nz-folk email listserver.

  • Chris Priestley

    Trustee, Foundation Member

    Singer/songwriter and NZ Historian. He has recorded eight albums, three of which were Tui Folk Music Award Finalists. As a hospitality entrepreneur he was co-founder of Real Groovy Records & Café, music venues Java Jive, Kerouacs, Atomic and Café One2One in Ponsonby. Chris has a musical career spanning over 40 years, both solo and with bands Acoustic Confusion and currently, The Unsung Heroes.
